Hillwalkers Survival Course
Course dates are being finalised - contact me for details before booking
Course Description
The hillwalkers survival course is an overnighter that teaches what to do in a short term wilderness survival situation. For example, if faced with inclement weather, immobilising injuries, cold night time temperatures or a delayed rescue response.
You’ll learn how to make use of the terrain itself to find natural safety from the elements, how to construct a hasty survival shelter, treat water for safe drinking when your main supply has ran out, and set up a signals plan to attract attention during the day or night.
We’ll also look at what can be carried to help with common outdoor injuries, and the three crucial items that every hillwalker and outdoorsman/woman would be foolish to leave at home.
Every skill is taught in context, giving you the confidence to apply what you learn to your own situation - if the worst should happen.
As evening falls, we’ll simulate a real scenario in a way that allows us to discuss our survival strategy while still getting a decent nights sleep.
In the morning - we’ll group together for breakfast and hot drinks then get stuck into some daytime signal methods, followed by final discussions and a debrief before finishing around lunchtime.
