First Spark - Survival Skills Taster Session (4 Hours)
Course Description
A practical 4-hour introduction to essential survival skills in a woodland environment. This session is designed to give you real, hands-on experience of core outdoor techniques in a relaxed and accessible setting.
You’ll learn how to set up simple emergency shelter using a tarp or poncho system, understand the basics of fire lighting through a Kelly Kettle demonstration, and explore how to make untreated water safe using filtration and sterilisation methods.
We’ll also cover how to communicate your location using a 6-figure grid reference, basic signalling techniques for attracting attention, light first aid considerations in the outdoors.
Along the way, we’ll touch on how to manage common wilderness hazards such as midges and ticks, and how to stay comfortable and effective in changing environmental conditions.
Finally, you’ll learn how to pack and organise your day kit effectively so you’re prepared for time outside.
Course Details
Price: £60 per person - minimum 2 participants
Duration: 4 hours - 10.00am to 2.00pm
Location: Pollok Park, Southside, Glasgow

Suitable clothing for the weather that day (sun hat / waterproof jacket etc)
